In our courses you sail an RS Zest dinghy, made from durable and unsinkable material. You can sail solo or with a partner, depending on participant numbers and preference, for a flexible and adaptable experience.
Course content
Our three-day basic courses give you a comprehensive introduction to sailing and boat handling. During the course you learn to sail a dinghy with a focus on sailing technique and dinghy handling. You will also learn right-of-way rules and essential boat handling skills.
What is included in the course fee
- Basic course: 3 or 4 days with theory and sailing, some courses over two weekends.
- Course book: Our course book Learning to Sail – Cool and Fun is included (value 219 SEK)
- Equipment: Life jackets, wetsuits, wetsuit shoes and helmets are available for use during the course
- Drinks: Coffee, tea and water
- Fruit: Available during the course
Prerequisites
No previous experience is required, but participants must be able to swim 200 metres in open water. Please note that dinghy sailing is a physical activity and requires good physical condition in order to benefit fully from the course.
Sailing Certificate
After completing the course you will have the skills and knowledge to obtain Sailing Certificate 1. To receive the actual certificate, there is an additional fee to Sailstar (175 SEK) and a fee to NFB (175 SEK) for issuing the certificate.

Extra Training
We offer evening training sessions on Sailstar’s smaller sailboats and dinghies for everyone who has completed a basic course. These sessions, booked separately, give you the opportunity to continue developing your sailing skills. Training sessions vary in difficulty, and you sign up for each individual session in advance.
